Through a combination of yoga, nutrition, natural supplements and rigorous exercise (Ironman and Crossfit) he was able to fight back the symptoms of Crohn's until he was finally able to suspend his medication. Eventually Ari was declared free of all traces of the 'incurable' disease, and competed in Ironman France in June of 2011.
Ari has since spoken at seminars and at a regional TED Talk about his struggle against a seemingly insurmountable opponent. In view of the growing interest of the Spanish business to do business in Bulgaria and in order to support and promote the economic, commercial and cultural relations between Bulgaria and Spain, at the end of January 2014 was established THE CHAMBER OF INDUSTRY AND COMMERCE OF SPAIN IN BULGARIA (CICEB).
This platform is created to enable the Spanish companies to share their goals in Bulgaria, as so far they were not been able to unite, cooperate and protect their common interests in this Balkan country.
CICEB is a non-profit, apolitical and independent association that wants to contribute to the strengthening of the business ties between Bulgaria and Spain, in accordance with the policies of both countries and to represent the economic interests of its members with the intention to be a reliable and stable adviser and partner in the relations between the two countries.
We believe that the existence of such a platform to protect the interests of all Spanish companies and professionals who develop their activities in Bulgaria could ensure that the voice of its members can reach out to the communities of both countries, to the Bulgarian and Spanish authorities, in a flexible, free and clear way.
The association has its headquarters in Sofia and offers information, contacts, services and technical support to its Spanish and Bulgarian partners. CICEB cooperates with state authorities, public organizations and enterprises from all economic sectors, construction and design, manufacture, companies in the service sector, importers and exporters, international large, medium and small enterprises.
The purpose of CICEB is to be an honest and loyal partner with the Bulgarian authorities and society as a whole, particularly with the Bulgarian companies, to work for the development and modernization of the country. We want to work from the position of equality, sharing the the Spanish experience and mistakes, getting to know the peculiarities of this country, which coexists with Spain in a common place as the European Union and to some extent to share the same way of being and understand life. We consider it necessary the Spanish voice present in Bulgaria, focused exclusively on the development and promotion of the Spanish companies, to be heard.
CICEB works for the promotion and support of the development of the cultural and commercial exchange and is the meeting place for entrepreneurship for Bulgarian and Spanish institutions with international activity. The creation of such a network helps for the expanse of the operational capacities of our platform and facilitates the exchange of information and experience within local chambers. We wish to contribute to the development of activities among our members, to advise and assist to the newcome investors and business partners.
CICEB prepares a rich annual calendar that includes conferences, business meeting, newsletters, thematic business delegations from Spain to Bulgaria and vice versa, celebrate holidays, awards etc , depending on the economic capacity of the Chamber.
Our Chamber organizes its daily work in a way that allows its members and all companies that wish to develop trade relations with Bulgaria to obtain assistance, information and support for the development of their businesses.
The official languages of CICEB are Spanish and Bulgarian.

Henry McGovern has earned his reputation as one of the leading entrepreneurs and most successful businessmen operating in Central and Eastern Europe and globally. In 2008 Forbes named Henry one of the Top 5 business people of Poland.
Born in 1966, Henry showed interest in international markets and being an entrepreneur early on. Living in Germany with his parents for three years (1970-73) influenced Henry’s decision to return to Europe latter on in his life. For the first time he came back for schooling at Cloister Ettal in Germany. Back in the US again in 1979, at the age of just 13, he had his first opportunity to run a business - a tennis store in Westhampton NY. Seven successful years with Kimberly’s Tennis Shoppe, let Henry develop his retail and entrepreneurial skills.
Henry started his next business in 1989, while attending Georgetown University. Metropolitan Properties LTD, a residential real estate development company, focused on the Georgetown area restoration of old homes. A year later Student Housing Association Inc. was founded to fill a niche that Henry had spotted in off campus housing needs for DC area Universities. Within three years SHA had become the largest provider of off-campus housing.
Deciding that business was a better direction than his current pre-med major, Henry left Georgetown for a year at London School of Economics where he met his future partner Donald Kendall Jr. After two years back in DC, curiosity for what the fall of the Iron Curtain would mean, became an irresistible pull. Selling 50% of his DC real estate companies provided seed money for seeing what could be done in Central Europe. In May 1993 Henry moved to Poland and founded American Retail Systems along with his partner Donald Kendall Jr. The company opened its first restaurant, Pizza Hut on Wroclaw’s Market Square, still in 1993. ARS changed its name to AmRest in 1999 and has grown from one restaurant to be the region’s leading restaurant company.
Today AmRest Holdings S.E. is the largest independent restaurant company in Central and Eastern Europe. AmRest is an operator of quick service and casual dining concepts, including such world class brands as KFC, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Starbucks, La Tagliatella, Blue Frog and Kabb across 12 countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Spain, France, Germany, China and USA). The company’s hallmark is its unique high energy culture, built around the belief that “Wszystko Jest Możliwe!”. Since 2005 AmRest is a public company traded on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (trade symbol EAT).
Henry McGovern is a father of three boys and a daughter and lives with his family in Wroclaw, Poland. He maintains his interest in real estate through Metropolitan Properties International. Mr. McGovern is also an active member of “Young Presidents Organization”.
